NOTE:-BSNL reserves the right to change the number of vacancies of TTAs.
1. Scale of Pay: The Telecom Technical Assistant shall be appointed in the IDA pay
scale of Rs.13600-25420 with annual increment @ 3% of basic pay. In addition, HRA,
Perks, Medical Benefits, LTC etc. will be admissible as per company rules.
The emolument at the minimum of the pay scale will be around Rs.18360/- excluding
HRA, perks, medical benefits, LTC etc.

2. Jurisdiction: Normally selected candidates will be posted at the same SSA but under
special circumstances they will be posted anywhere in MP Telecom Circle and anywhere in
India under territorial/Army Act 1948.
3. Eligibility
3.1. Nationality: Only Indian Nationals would be eligible to apply.
3.2. Educational Qualifications:
The Applicant must possess, as on the closing date of receipt of applications i.e.
31.05.2013 from candidates, the educational qualifications in any of the following
disciplines from a recognized Institute/University:
a ) Three Years Engineering Diploma in
- Telecommunications E ngineering
- Electronics Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Radio Engineering
- Computer Engineering
- Instruments Technology
- Information Technology.
b) M.Sc. (Electronics) from a recognized institution/University.
Note 1:
I. No equivalence in the Educational qualification is provided.
II. Candidates possessing higher qualification in the eligible stream are
allowed to appear in the examination.
III. Candidates possessing Three year Diploma certificates are eligible to appear
in the Exam irrespective of percentage of marks obtained by them.
Note 2:
The appearance of the candidates in the examination will be purely on a provisional
basis and failure to produce the certificate as to the above qualification at the time of
scrutiny of documents will make the candidate ineligible in the examination. No
extention of time in this regard or any request for relaxation in qualification would be
entertained under any circumstances.
4. Age:
(a) The applicant should be between 18 to 27 years of age as on closing date
31.05.2013 of receipt of applications from candidates. However, this age is relaxable
for following categories of applications:
(i) For Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes up to 5 years
(ii) For OBC Candidates up to 3 years;
(iii) For OC PH Candidates up to 10 years ,For SC/ST-PH candidates up to15
years and For OBC-PH candidates upto 13 years.
( i v ) For departmental candidates:
- up to 40 years in respect of General(OC) candidates
- up to 45 years in respect of SC/ST candidates in accordance with the
instructions or orders issued by the Central Government.
- up to 43 years in respect of OBC candidates

( v ) For Residents of J&K – Relaxation shall be in accordance with
DOP&T O.M.No. 15012/7/1991-Estt.(D) dtd. 6.12.2005 pertaining to
“Residents of State of Jammu and Kashmir (Relaxation of Upper Age
Limit for Recruitment to Central Civil Services & Posts) Rules 1997”.
(Vi) Ex-servicemen are eligible for relaxation in age as prescribed by the
central government rules.
Note: The date of birth entered in matriculation or Secondary School Leaving
Certificate or in a certificate recognized by an Indian University as equivalent to
Matriculation or in an extract from a Register of Matriculates maintained by a
University which extract must be certified by the proper authority of the University or in
the Higher Secondary or an equivalent examination certificate. The certificates are
required to be submitted only at the time of appointment. No other document relating
to age like horoscopes, affidavit, birth extracts from Municipal Corporation, Service
records and the like will be accepted.
5. PWD :-In case of of PWD candidates ,only such persons would be eligible for
reservation in service/posts who suffer from not less than 40 percent of relevant
disability.A person who wants to avail of benefit of reservation would have to submit a
Disability Certificate by a competent authority in the format given in Annexure-I.
In respect of Persons with disabilities, candidates with following physical disability
only will be permitted:
(i) For Hearing Impairment
Physical Requirements Category of the Disabled suitable for the Job
(1) S-work performed by sitting
(2)B-Work performed by Bending
(1) PD-Partially deaf
(ii)Locomotor disability
Physical Requirements Category of the Disabled suitable for the Job

(1) BL-Both Legs affected but not arms
(2)OL-One Leg affected(R or L)
6. Probation Period: 2 years.
7. Bond & Training: Selected candidates will have to sign a two years bond
for the amount as decided by BSNL in favour of BSNL. Candidates must undergo the
prescribed training of 10 weeks. During the training period they will get stipend of Rs.
4970+ IDA per month as per rule. Appointment orders will be issued after successful
completion of Training and Medical fitness.
8. Syllabus & Question Paper :
(a) There shall be only one Paper of multiple choice objective type of three hours
duration as per syllabus with the following details:
Part Marks
Part- I General Ability Test 20
Part- II Basic Engineering 90
Part- III Specialization 90

(b) Total number of Questions in the paper would be 200 and each question shall
carry one mark.
(c) The standard of paper in General Ability test will be such as may be expected
of an Engineering Diploma holder. The standard of papers in other subject will
approximately be that of Diploma level of an Indian Polytechnic. In the Specialization
Part-III, a candidate has to attempt a common set of questions from the consolidated
syllabus prescribed under Specialization Part-III.
(d) The detailed syllabus as given on page no. 14 to 17 of this advertisement.
9. Minimum qualifying standards
Minimum qualifying marks for different category of candidates will be as follows:
(a) Minimum qualifying marks in the Paper will be 40% for the General
Category(OC) and 33% for the candidates of SC/ST/OBC/PH categories. The
question paper shall comprise of these parts of 20,90 and 90 each,as prescribed
in the Scheme and Syllabus. There will be a single paper of 200 marks and
each question shall carry one mark.
(b) The minimum qualifying marks in each of the three parts of the Question paper
will be 30% for OC and 20% for candidates belonging to OBC/SC/ST categories
i.e. the minimum passing marks in each of the 3 parts in respect of OC will be
6,27 and 27 respectively whereas in respect of OBC/SC/ST,it will be 4,18 and
18 respectively.
(c) Further relaxation of 2% in marks will be given to the physically Handicapped
candidates in each category viz. OC-PH,OBC-PH,SC-PH&ST-PH)
(d) There will be negative marking for each wrong one,25% of mark of that question
shall be deducted.
The appearance of the name in the merit-list does not confer any right on the
candidate for employment. A final call letter/ appointment letter will be issued to the
candidate after completion of all other formalities.
No request for revaluation of answer books shall be entertained under any
circumstance.
10. Examination Centre
The Examination Centres will be set at Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and Gwalior cities.
The Examination Centres (venue) will be intimated to the applicants in due
course of time. Examination Centres may be shifted if required at the sole discretion
of BSNL.
11. Application form and Fee for examination
(i) The application form is included in this advertisement. The Application form is to
be downloaded for making application in A4 size [30 cms. X 20 cms.] papers (using
only one side of paper).
(ii) The completed application form along with the enclosures specified in para 12 of
this advertisement , should be sent by Registered Post to the concerned SSA at the
address specified in the table on page no. 1 & 2 of this notification , so as to reach
the concerned SSA by 31.05.2013.

The envelope containing application form should be marked “Application for the
post for DR TTA in BSNL,……….SSA” in bold letters on the top of the envelope
(iii) An examination fee of Rs 500/- (Rupees Five hundred only) is payable in the
form of Demand Draft/Pay Order drawn in favour of Accounts Officer(Cash) of the
concerned SSA, payable at the concerned SSA city as specified in table on page
no. 1&2 of this advertisement. The amount of fee shall not be accepted in any other
form.

with Demand Draft/Pay Order drawn in favour of AO(Cash),O/o GMTD Bhopal ,payable at
Bhopal.)
a. No fee for the applicants of SC/ST categories.
b. Exemption from payment of examination fees is also available to only those
handicapped persons who would otherwise be eligible for appointment to the
post on the basis of the standards of medical fitness prescribed for that post
and who enclose with the application form, necessary certificate from a
Government Hospital/Medical Board in support of his/her claim for being
handicapped as per enclosed proforma …
(iv) Fees once paid shall NOT be refunded under any circumstances nor can it be
held in reserve for any other examination or selection.
(v) An applicant is allowed to appear for examination against the vacancy
of one SSA only.
12. Selection
Selection will be through a Competitive Examination. The TTA cadre being an
SSA based cadre, selection will be based on Merit of the concerned SSA only,
followed by a medical test, Pre-appointment formalities etc. Posting will be given
subject to successful completion of training.
13. List of enclosures
a. Four identical passport size photographs out of which two should be pasted (not
stapled or pinned) on the application form, duly attested, and the other two
attached to the application (not to be pasted or attested).
b. Two self addressed unstamped envelopes of 27 x 12 cms size.
c. In case of Govt Servants/Ex servicemen certificate to be enclosed.
d. Demand Draft for Rs. 500/- whoever applicable.
e. PWD certificate in the format given in Annexure-I., wherever applicable.
14. Closing date for receipt of Application Forms
(i) Application forms complete in every respect must reach the concerned SSA
on or before 31.05.2013. Applications received after the closing date or not
accompanied by the demand draft/Pay order [wherever applicable] for the
prescribed examination fee or incomplete in any respect shall be summarily
rejected and no communication in respect of the rejected application forms
shall be entertained.
(ii) Any cutting or overwriting in any part of the application form will render it liable
to be rejected. Candidates are, therefore, advised to take special care while
filling the application form.
(iii) The applicants would be admitted to the examination on the basis of the
information furnished by them in their application form. They are, therefore,

advised to ensure that they fulfill all eligibility conditions before applying. In
case it is found at a later stage that the information furnished by an applicant is
false or an applicant does not fulfil any of the eligibility conditions, the
candidature of such applicants would be cancelled and no correspondence in
this regard would be entertained. Issuance of an admit card for the
examination will NOT confer any right for appointment. Appointment will
be solely subject to fulfilment of all eligibility conditions. The decision of BSNL
in this regard shall be final & binding.
(iv) BSNL will NOT be responsible for postal delay or loss of application in transit.
15. Travelling Allowance to SC/ST candidates: The applicants belonging to
SC/ST categories will be entitled to T.A. as per provisions of Ministry of Finance
(Deptt. of Expenditure) O.M. No.19014/3/77-E.IV (B) dated 17.02.1978. SC/ST
candidates shall be eligible for Travelling Allowance by second class sleeper
passenger train fare by the shortest route from the railway station nearest to their
normal place of residence, or from which they actually performed the journey,
whichever is nearer to the place of examination centre, and back to the same station
provided the distance travelled by train each way exceeds 30 K.Ms. The candidates
are required to produce the following documents on the exam date.
(a) Filled up TA Forms in the format attached at Annexure-II;
(b) Unemployment certificate issued by M.P. /M.L.A. or Gazetted Officer of the
place where the candidate normally resides;
(c) Copy of Rail/Bus Ticket of the journey performed by the candidate.
16. Pre-recruitment Training:-As per BSNL Corporate Office SCT cell letter
no. 16/8/2006/SCT/257 Dated 28.08.2006 pre-recruitment training will be
arranged for all the eligible SC/ST/Minority candidates in connection with
preparation for the examination.
16. Admit Cards: Admission card will be issued to eligible candidates only.
17 Disqualifications: No person
17.1 Who has entered into or contracted a marriage with a person having a spouse
living, or
17.2 who, having a spouse living, has entered into or contracted marriage with any
person, shall be eligible for appointment to the post of TTA.
Provided that BSNL may, if satisfied that such marriage is permissible under
the personal law applicable to such person and the other party to the marriage
and there are other grounds for so doing, exempt any person from the
operation of this rule.
18. No request for withdrawal of candidature received from a candidate after
he has submitted his application will be entertained under any circumstances. Any
dispute regarding the recruitment will be subject to the Courts/Tribunals having
jurisdiction over the place of concerned Circle office of BSNL from where the
candidate is appearing in the examination.
19. Guidelines on Waiting list:-
(i) The circle will maintain waiting list for each SSA.
(ii) Waiting list will be furnished in the website along with detailed instructions, as
per Company rules.
(iii)Appearance of candidate’s name in the waiting list does not confer any right on
the candidate for claiming appointment in the company.

(iv) In the event of dropout/non-availability of successful candidates who have
been sent offer letter for appointment as TTA ,the waiting list will be operated
to fill up only the unfilled notified vacancies arising out of dropouts of
successful candidates strictly in the order of merit in the waiting list,while
cancelling candidature of earlier successful candidates.

The standard of Paper in General ability test will be such as may be
expected of an Engineering Diploma holder. The standard of papers in other
subjects will approximately be that of diploma level of an Indian Polytechnic.
There shall be a single multiple choice objective type Paper of 3 hrs.

Note:- a) There is no equivalence provided. Only such qualification and streams as prescribed above will be allowed to appear in the examination.
b) Candidates possessing higher qualification in the above mentioned stream are allowed to appear in the examination.
c) In case a candidate is possessing requisite educational qualification, irrespective of having entered the course in the 2nd year through lateral entry level after 10+2, he/she will be eligible to appear in the exam.
d) Candidates who have not acquired/ will not acquire the educational qualification as on the stipulated date (closing date of receipt of application) will not be eligible and need not apply.
c) Age:- i) Between 18 to 27 years of age as on the 21.05.2013 (closing date for receipt of applications). ii) The upper age limit as prescribed in 3(C)(i) will be relaxable as under:-
a) Upto maximum of 5 years if a candidate belongs to SC/ST category.
b) Upto a maximum of 3 years if a candidate belongs to OBC in accordance with DP&T OM NO. 43013/2/95-Estt(SCT) dt. 25.01.1995 read with amendments made thereafter.
c) Upto a maximum of 10 years if the candidate is a P/H person.
For candidate belonging to SC/ST/OBC who are Physically handicapped, the maximum age relaxation of 10 years permissible for Physically handicapped shall be in addition to the relaxation provided in terms of column (a) & (b) above. iii) For Ex-Serviceman for Group‟C‟ posts age concession will be allowed in accordance with the orders issued by the Government from time to time and they will be allowed to deduct military service from their actual age and such resultant age should not exceed the prescribed age limit by more than three years. iv) For departmental candidates (BSNL employees) upto 45 years in respect of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes candidates and upto 43 years in respect of OBC Candidates and unto 40 years in respect of OC candidates, in accordance with instruction or orders issued by the BSNL. v) For Government servants upto 5 years in accordance with the instruction or orders issued by Central Government. vi) For residents of J&K – Relaxation shall be in accordance with DoP & T.O.M. No.15012/7/19912-Estt.(D) dated 06.12.2005 pertaining to “Residents of State of Jammu and Kashmir (Relaxation of upper Age Limit for Recruitment to Central Civil Services and Posts) Rules 1997”. For OBC Candidates claiming the benefit of reservation under OBC category not covered under the Creamy Layer must ensure that they furnish the OBC certificate duly signed by the competent authority in prescribed format. The closing date for receipt of application will be treated as the date of reckoning for OBC status of the candidate and also, for assuming that the candidate does not fall in the Creamy Layer. Other Backward Class (OBC) for the purpose of Age relaxation and reservation will mean “Person of OBC category not belonging to the Creamy Layer” as defined in Govt. of India Dept. of Personal & Training O.M. No. 36012/22/93-Estt.(SCT), dated 08.09.1993. And Modified vide O.M. No. 36033/3/2004-Estt(Res) dated 09.03.2004 & 14.10.2008. …3… 4. Selection: The candidates will be provisionally selected as Telecom. Technical Assistant (TTA) on the basis of an open Competitive Examination followed by a medical test. Appointment and posting will be subject other eligibility conditions and requirements. Candidates obtaining less than minimum qualifying marks in any paper shall not be considered for inclusion in the merit-list. The appearance of the name in the merit list does not confer any right to the candidate for employment. A final call letter/appointment letter will be issued to the candidate after completion of all other formalities. 5. Bond and Training : - i) All candidates provisionally selected for appointment against the vacancies for direct recruitment shall execute a bond for a period of five years from the date of their appointment as Telecom Technical Assistant in the proforma specified by the Department. ii) The selected candidates before their appointment as Telecom Technical Assistant have to undergo the prescribed course of training in any of the training centers of the Department. iii) During the period of training, the trainees will be entitled to stipend (training allowances) as directed by Department from time to time. 6. Probation Period :- The candidates appointed shall remain on probation for a period of two (2) years. 7. Service Liability :- Normally within the territorial jurisdiction of Calcutta Telephones District but transferable any where in India in the interest of service. The candidates on appointment shall, if so required, be liable to serve in Territorial Army Signal Units for period specified in the Territorial Army act. and rules made there under. 8. For the Employed Candidates:- Candidates working in Central/State Government Service/Public Sector under taking should send their applications through the head of their office/department so as to reach this office within due date (closing date for receipt of applications). Application shall be straightway rejected if received late/ or not complete in all respect as provided in rules. 9. Examination Fee :- a) Examination fee of Rs.500/- (Five hundred) is payable by the applicant in the form of demand draft drawn in favour of A.O.(Cash)/BSNL/Calcutta and must be purchased/ issued after the date of advertisement. Fee remitted by Money Order or Cheques will not be accepted. Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. b) No fee for the applicants of SC, ST and PH categories. 10.Disqualification :- No person (a) who has entered into or contracted a marriage with a person having a spouse living or (b) who having a spouse living entered into or contracted a marriage with any person shall be eligible for appointment to any of the above posts. Provided that the Central Govt. may if satisfied that such marriage is permissible under the personal law applicable to such person and the other party to the marriage and that there are other grounds for doing so, exempt any person from the operation of this rule. An application will be summarily rejected at any stage of the recruitment process for:- i) not conforming to the official format, ii) having incomplete information/wrong information/miss-representation of facts, iii) left unsigned, iv) submitted without fee where due, v) without good quality photograph pasted at the appropriate place/extra two copies of photo, vi) not accompanied by attested copies of certificates showing category- (SC/ST/OBC/EX-Serviceman/PH), age, educational qualification, age relaxation and vii) for submitting more than one application. Concession for SC/ST Candidates:- a) Traveling Allowances to SC/ST candidates: The applicants belonging to SC/ST categories will be entitled to T.A. as per provisions of Ministry of Finance (Deptt. Of Expenditure) OM No. 19014/3/77-E.IV(B) dtd.17.02.1978. SC/ST candidates shall be eligible for Traveling Allowance by second class sleeper passenger train fare by the shortest route from the railway station nearest to their normal place of residence, or from which they actually performed the journey, whichever is nearer to the place of examination centre, and back to the same station provided the distance traveled by train each way exceeds 30 K.Ms. The candidates are required to produce the following documents on the exam date. i) Filled up TA Forms in the format attached. ii) Unemployment certificate issued by M.P./M.L.A. or Gazetted Officer of the place where the candidate normally resides; iii) Copy of Rail/Bus Ticket of the journey performed by the candidate. b) Pre-recruitment training for SC/ST candidates. Necessary arrangement for Pre-recruitment training for SC/ST Candidates applied for TTA DR exam will be conducted by this circle before Exam date. 3. Age : Between 18-27 years as on 13/05/2013. The upper age limit is
relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST & 3 years for OBC candidates ,10
years for PH persons . Ex- servicemen and other specific categories
are also eligible for relaxation in age limit as prescribed by the
Central Govt. The age relaxation for BSNL employees is up to 40
yrs for OC , 45 yrs for SC/STand.43 years for OBC candidates The
OBC candidates should produce community certificates (non
creamy layer certificate) as per the pro forma for appointment of
OBC in Central Govt. Services as per Department of Personnel &
Training OM No.36012/22/93 Estt (SCT) dated 8.9.1993. For

6.Examination fee : Rs. 500/- (Rs. Five hundred only) in the form of Demand Draft from
a Nationalized Bank / Indian Postal Order drawn in favour of
“Accounts Officer (Cash), O/O Principal General Manager / O/o
General Manager, BSNL, of the respective SSA where the candidate
desires to apply, payable at its Head Quarters. No fee for SC/ST & PH
Candidates. Exemption to PH candidates however will be available to
only those handicapped persons with O.L, BL, PD and who enclose
with the application form, necessary certificate from approved
Medical board in support of his claim for the disabilities.
Fees once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.
7.Centre of exam : Centre of examination will be at SSA Head Quarters.
8.Method of Selection: Through a Competitive Examination(OMR based) to be conducted as per
the schedule given below followed by a medical test. Appointment &
posting will be subject to successful completion of pre – appointment
training.
Minimum qualifying marks for different category of candidates will be as follows:
a).Minimum qualifying marks in the Paper will be 40% for the General category (OC) and 33 % for the
candidates of SC/ ST/ OBC/ PH categories. The question paper shall comprise of three parts of 20, 90
and 90 each, as prescribed in the Scheme and Syllabus . There will be a single paper of 200 marks and
each question shall carry one mark.
b). The Minimum qualifying marks in each of the three parts of the question paper will be 30% for OC
and 20% for candidates belonging to OBC/SC/ ST categories. ie, the minimum passing marks in each of
the three parts in respect of OC will be 6, 27 and 27 respectively whereas in respect of OBC/ SC/ ST , it
will be 4,18 and 18 respectively.
c). Further relaxation of 2% in marks will be given to the physically handicapped candidates in each
category viz. OC-PH, OBC-PH, SC-PH & ST-PH.
d). There will be negative marking for each wrong answer, 25% of mark of that question shall be
deducted.

10. . Last Date : Applications should be sent to the concerned PGM/ GMs ,so as to reach
them on or before 13-05-2013. Applications received after the due date will
be rejected and no further correspondence will be entertained
11. Rejection : Applications received after the last date viz 13-05-2013 (Up to 5 PM )
and in-complete in any respect are liable to be summarily
rejected.
12. Registration in: Registration in employment exchange is not mandatory.
Employment Exchange However, it would be preferable, if the applicant has registration in the
employment exchange of the SSA concerned to which the applicant applies. In
case two or more successful candidates show equal performance in the test and
have, same date of birth etc , preference will be given
to those candidates who have registered their names in the Employment
Exchange of the concerned SSA in which they have applied.
13. How to apply The candidates may submit their applications in the Pro forma given in
Annexure-I The application should be legible and readable in thick plain paper
of A4 size (on one side). Two recent passport size photograph should be
affixed in the space provided for in the application. Copy of syllabus is attached
. This will also be available on the Notice board in the Office of the head of
SSAs. Hall permit will be issued to eligible candidates by the concerned SSA.
14. Training : Selected candidates have to undergo a training imparted by BSNL for a period
of 10 weeks. During the period of training, stipend will be paid as per rules in force.
Also they have to execute a bond in the format prescribed by the BSNL for a period of 2
years from the date of their appointment as TTA
15. Disqualification: 1. No person (a.) who has entered in to or contracted a marriage with a person having a
spouse living or b) who having a spouse living entered in to or contracted a marriage
with any person shall be eligible for appointment, provided that the Company may if
satisfied that such marriage is permissible under the personal law applicable to such
person and the other party to the marriage and that there are other grounds for so doing
exempt any person from the operation of this rule.
2. Canvassing in any form will result in disqualification of candidature.
16. Probation The candidates appointed shall remain on probation for a period of 2 years.
17. Already employed in the government service :
Candidates working in Government service / Public Sector Undertaking should sent their applications
through the Head of their Office/Department, so as to reach the concerned BSNL Office on or before the due date.
Applications received after the due date from such offices will summarily be rejected.
18. BSNL reserves the Right to amend any clause in this notification in future according to the rules and regulations
prevailing at that time BSNL also reserves the right to reject any application or cancel the candidature without

SCHEME & SYLLABUS FOR TTA DIRECT RECRUITMENT EXAMINATION
The standard of Paper in General ability test will be such as may
be expected of an Engineering Diploma holder. The standard of papers in other subjects
will approximately be that of Diploma level of an Indian Polytechnic. There shall be a
single multiple choice objective type paper of 3hrs. duration as per details given below:

PART.I : GENERAL ABILITY TEST - 20 MARKS.
The candidate’s comprehension and understanding of General English shall be
tested through simple exercise such as provision of antonyms and synonyms, fill in the
blanks and multiple choice exercise etc. This shall also include questions on current
events, general knowledge and such matters of everyday observation and experiences as
may be expected of Diploma holder.
PART.II: BASIC ENGINEERING - 90 MARKS
Detailed Syllabus is as under :

physics, Semiconductor Diode, Bipolar transistor & their circuits, Transistor
Biasing Stabilization of operating point; Single stage transistor amplifier, field
effect transistor, Mosfet circuits applications.
Multistage Transistor Amplifier, Transistor Audio Power Amplifiers, Feedback

1. Electrical :
3 phases vs. single – phase supply, star Delta connections, relation between phase &
line voltage power factor and their measurements, construction and principles of
working of various types of electrical measuring instruments . All types of motor and
generator- AC &DC transformers starters, rectifiers, inverters, battery charges,
batteries, servo and stepper motors, contactor control circuits, switchgear, relays,
protection devices & schemes, substation, protective relaying, circuits breaker,
generator protection, transformer protection, feeder & lightening protection, feeder &
bus bar protection, lightening arrestor, earthing, voltage stabilizer & regulators, power
control devices & circuits, phase controlled rectifiers, inverters, choppers dual
converters, cycloconverters, power electronics application in control of drivers,
refrigeration & air - conditioning .
2. Communication :
Modulation and demodulation – principles and operation of various types of AM,
FM and PM modulators/ demodulators; pulse modulation – TDM, PAM, PPM,
PWM, Multiplexing, principles and applications of PCM.
Introduction of Basic block diagram of digital and data communication systems,
coding error detection and correction techniques, Digital Modulation Techniques
– ASK, ICW, FSK, PSK, Characteristics / working of data transmission circuits,
UART, USART, Modems, Protocols and their functions, brief idea of ISDN
interfaces, local areas Network, Carrier Telephony – Features of carrier telephone
system.
Microwave Engineering : Microwave Devices, Wave – guides, Microwave
Components, Microwave Antennas, Microwave Communication system- Block
diagram & working principles of microwave communication link.
3. Network, Filters and Transmission Lines :
Two port network, Attenuators, Filters, Transmission Lines and their applications
characteristic impedance of line, concept of refection and standing waves on a
transmission line, Transmission line equation, Principles of impedance matching
Bandwidth consideration of a transmission line.
4. Instruments and Measurements :
Specification of instruments – accuracy, precision, sensitivity, resolution range,
Errors in measurements and loading effect, principles of voltage, current and
resistance measurements, Transducers, measurement of displacement & strain,
forcers & torque measuring devices, pressure measuring devices, flow measuring
devices, power control devices & circuits. Types of AC Milli voltmeters-
